The Salman (formerly Sassan) field is located in the Arabia/Persian Gulf, 142 kilometres south of Lavan Island. It extends across the maritime boundary with the United Arab Emirates, where it is known as Abu Al Bukhoosh. 75% of the field is in Iran's territorial waters.The field came onstream in 1968 and its production peaked at 195,000 b/d in the 1970s.
