Report summary
The Sole gas field is located 45 kilometres from the Victorian coast. It was discovered by Shell in 1973 and is the easternmost discovery in the Gippsland Basin. Rising domestic gas prices on the east coast of Australia and the acquisition of 100% of the field by Cooper Energy finally made the field development viable. The project entered FEED in May 2015, and FID was taken in August 2017. First gas was achieved in May 2020.
