The South Pars oil layer (SPOL) is located in the Persian Gulf and is shared with Qatar, where it is called Al Shaheen. The field is a series of Cretaceous reservoirs above the deep Permian Dalan gas reservoirs of the super-giant South Pars gas field. The field is under the supervision of Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), a National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) subsidiary.SPOL is divided into four sections: A1, A2, B, and C.
