Texas two-step: meeting notes from the Permian and Eagle Ford
Report summary
Our notes and research findings from the largest Permian and Eagle Ford conference of 2022 are broken into four main topics. Each confirms much of the analysis we've been publishing the past six months, and this Insight is full of links back to related WoodMac reports. First, consolidation is far from over. Shrinking economic well inventory isn’t a concern for large public E&Ps, but the capital efficiency of that inventory is. Second, exploration risk is again worth the reward. Teams are again pushing play boundaries and drilling deeper. Third, Navigating logistics and supply chain issues is so complex, it’s already delaying next year’s planning cycle. And finally, technology is primed to help lower emissions. Re-fracturing success rates look set to rise. And even shale EOR test projects might find a growing place in low carbon strategies.
