Permian small-cap Vital Energy (VTLE) is making another move for a value-boosting consolidation. Vital is acquiring three private companies – Tall City III, Maple Energy and Henry Resources – in one combined deal. Total consideration is US$1.2 billion and the deal will be funded through freshly issued equity, preferable convertibles and its secured credit facility. Scale offers both sustainability and resiliency and often greater cash flow diversification. VTLE has been on a buying run, purchasing ten asset packages since 2019. This deal is Vital's second move into the Delaware Basin since May and its third accretive Permian transaction this year.
