Woodside divests 10% in Scarborough to LNG Japan for US$500 million
Report summary
On 8 August 2023, Woodside announced it had established a strategic relationship with LNG Japan. The three part deal sees LNG Japan acquire a 10% stake in Woodside's Scarborough LNG development, for an initial fee of US$500 million. Secondly, LNG Japan has also signed an HoA to acquire 9 million tonnes of LNG from Woodside. And finally, Woodside, Sumitomo Corporation and Sojitz Corporation have agreed to cooperate on new energy opportunities.
