On 12 July 2017, Talos (35% and operator), announced the discovery of the Zama field offshore Mexico. This is the first find by a private company in Mexico in over 79 years. The operator puts Zama's oil in place at 1.5 to 2 bnboe, making it one of the 15 largest shallow-water discoveries in the last 20 years globally.
