Report summary
Today Williams announced that its expanded Geismar, La., olefins plant has begun manufacturing ethylene for sale. The US ethylene market has learned to manage without the Williams Geismar supply since June 2013. The expanded cracker restart is expected to put downward pressure on spot ethylene prices and lead to a contango curve as ethylene inventories build going into the summer.
