Can Kyzyl-Kuragino railway unlock 25 Mtpa of new Russian coking coal exports?
Report summary
The Russian government approved the concession agreement to build Kyzyl-Kuragino railway in Southern Siberia. If the railway is built, it could unlock up to 25 Mtpa of new high-volatile coking coal exports from Russia by connecting the deposit to the main railway network. However, the project faces a number of challenges. In this insight, we examine these challenges and consider the possibility and the timing of new export coking coal flows from the Ulug-Khem coal basin in Tyva.
