US-based iron ore and coal producer Cliffs Natural Resources announced 10 December 2014 that it had signed an agreement to sell its Logan County Coal operations to Coronado Coal II LLC in a deal totalling US$175 million. Coronado will pay US$175 million in cash for the Toney Fork surface mine, 3 underground mines (Powellton #1, Lower War Eagle and Elklick Chilton No.1), the Saunders preparation plant and the associated Elk Lick loadout on CSX.
