Report summary

With its acquisition of Sherritt's Canadian coal mines in late 2013 Westmoreland has become the 6th largest North American coal producer with a portfolio of mainly mine mouth operations. Among the 13 mines it controls Westmoreland operates two surface mines in the Montana portion of the Powder River Basin: Rosebud and Absaloka. Rosebud primarily serves the adjacent Colstrip power plant while the Absaloka mine sells into a broader market.
