Heatwaves have continued to boost power demand in Japan and South Korea. Power grid congestion has restricted coal-fired generation in South Korea, supporting stronger gas-fired electricity output. In Japan, power gas inventories in August have dropped by 10% compared to their level in July. LNG demand in South Asia and Southeast Asia has slowed down with the monsoon season. In the Atlantic, Egypt has tendered additional cargoes to cover its domestic gas shortfall.
