After being strongly impacted by the pandemic, the Latin America and the Caribbean gas markets have quickly recovered. In South America, a severe drought makes Argentina, Brazil, and Chile import record-high LNG volumes. On the other side, Colombia is about to face its second La Niña in 12 months, bringing down LNG demand to nearly zero. Meanwhile, economic recovery in Mexico is bringing gas demand to pre-pandemic levels. The economic recovery will support a continuous increase in gas demand. However, infrastructure development will remain key to sustainable growth in the long term, which concentrates the main opportunities in the region.
