Weather abnormalities continue to cast new records. The week ending March 8 was the second coldest of the winter season, and EIA reported the largest March storage withdrawal on record in the US Lower 48 as well as in the South Central storage region. Yet persistent cold remains illusive, and a quick warm-up will bring much smaller withdrawals and even injections in some regions. While the deficit to the five-year average will decrease in the coming weeks, we expect to start the injection season at 1.1 tcf, the lowest level since the polar vortex winter of 2013/2014.
