Europe calls for more US LNG supply
Report summary
On 25 March, the United States and the European Commission announced plans for a joint Task Force on Energy Security, with the goal of reducing Europe’s dependency on Russian energy. The specific measures include efforts to support long-term contracting mechanisms which aim to support new final investment decisions on US LNG export infrastructure. This includes working with EU Member States towards ensuring stable demand for additional US LNG until at least 2030 of approximately 50 billion cubic metres per annum (bcm), equal to approximately 35 million tonnes per annum (mmtpa) of LNG.
