KOGAS seeks LNG opportunities in Brazil and Mexico
Report summary
KOGAS faces increasing threats to its business in South Korea. Full gas market liberalisation will take place by 2025. Competition to supply LNG domestically is already increasing. With limited growth potential at home, KOGAS is exploring opportunities overseas. In August and September 2016, it announced plans to develop regasification terminals in Mexico and Brazil. One of KOGAS' core competencies is to develop and operate regasification terminals. It has decades of experience from developing and operating its regasification terminals in South Korea. It also had prior experience developing the Manzanillo regasification terminal in Mexico.
