European gas prices collapsed on the news that Russia and Azerbaijan had agreed to a swap agreement to transit gas through Ukraine in 2025, before correcting once the information turned out to be erroneous. Demand for spot winter cargoes has emerged in Asia with Chinese, Japanese and South Korean buyers securing deliveries for Q4. The weather has provided a boost to Asian LNG imports so far this year, and this could continue with La Niña this winter.
