Report summary

Following the virtual end in piped gas imports from Argentina in the mid-2000s, Chile looked to LNG as a substitute. In October 2007, Suez (now Engie) and Codelco, Chile's state-run copper company, announced that they would share equal ownership of GNL Mejillones (GNLM), a company set up to develop a regas terminal in northern Chile.
