The Mundra LNG terminal is India's fifth and Gujarat's third terminal, commissioned in January 2020. Initially planned for construction in Hazira, the project was later relocated to the Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) in the Kutch district of Gujarat. The concept of an LNG terminal in the western part of Gujarat to minimize shipping costs from the Middle East was first proposed in 2007.
