Zeebrugge - LNG regas terminal
Report summary
The Zeebrugge LNG terminal's position in Northwest Europe, service offerings and size make it one of the most important terminals in Europe. The terminal's position close to several large gas markets, the Zeebrugge trading Hub, as well as major east-west and north-south pipeline infrastructure means volumes imported to Zeebrugge have high destination flexibility. Starting operations in 1987, Zeebrugge is the oldest LNG terminal in Northwest Europe. For 18 years Zeebrugge was the only terminal operating in Northwest Europe (Isle of Grain started operations in 2005), providing greatly increased supply diversity and an important alternative to piped gas for region. The Zeebrugge terminal is owned and operated by Fluxys LNG. There are currently three capacity holders - Eni, EDF, and Total. Eni and EDF's capacity agreements end in 2026 while Total's ends in 2023.
