Ahafo is a conventional open pit and underground operation. The underground portion of the operation started in 2017 in the Subika deposit. The primary underground method is long-hole open stoping using backfill. The processing plant comprises a 7.5Mt/a carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuit for gold recovery. In addition, a mill expansion program is ongoing to increase total mill capacity to 10Mt/a, increasing gold production while lowering costs and off-setting impact of lower grades and harder ore. In 2018, the mine produced 436koz of gold.
