Asset Report
Ajo copper mine project
Report summary
The accompanying analysis covers the long-term possibility of re-starting production from the historic Ajo mine. In May 1997 a decision was taken to build a new mill associated infrastructure and re-start production in 1999. However, environmental permitting was delayed and the project was suspended. Following the permanent closure of both Hidalgo and Hurley smelters there was no longer the requirement for concentrate feed that Ajo could provide.
