Bolani iron ore mine
Report summary
Bolani iron ore mine is situated 1100 kilometres southeast of New Delhi in the Indian state of Odisha. The mine is one of five captive operations in eastern India owned and operated by SAIL, the government-owned Steel Authority of India Limited. Capacity at Bolani has been upgraded and the mine produces 8.4 Mtpa (ROM). We expect production to be maintained at this level for the life of the mine in order to meet it's steel plant requirements. Ramp up was slower than anticipated due to ongoing delays in permitting. This has been an issue over the past few years and has the potential to delay capacity increases in the future although there are plans to increase capacity to 10 Mtpa (ROM).
