Report summary
The mine started operating in 2015. The initial proposed Boleo project comprised an underground mine, supplemented by production from a series of open pits to feed 2.8Mt/a of ROM ore to a hydro-metallurgical facility designed to produce up to 30kt/a cathode copper, 700t/a of cobalt and 10.5kt/a of zinc sulphate. The area of the mine was previously exploited for its copper reserves from 1888 until 1972 with approximately 18Mt of ore treated.
