Browns Sulphide zinc mine project
Report summary
The Browns Project was planned to be developed in two stages; the first stage involved the exploitation of an oxide-mineralised layer, situated over the sulphide deposit. The development of the oxide and sulphide deposits was governed by separate agreements. The oxide project, commenced operations in 2008 and then closed in early 2009 after Compass Resources had gone into voluntary administration, this is covered by a separate analysis. In December 2016, Doe Run Australia (DRA) entered into an agreement with Northern Territory Resources (NTR) to acquire full control of the Browns site and Litchfield tenements previously held by Compass Resources.
