Report summary
The Çaldag deposit was discovered and investigated by the MTA (the Turkish Government Mining and Exploration Service) in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Wood Mackenzie's analysis suggests a theoretical start-up date of 2031, though this timeline remains uncertain given the project's history of challenges. The existing infrastructure could allow for relatively quick reactivation. However, significant hurdles persist, including environmental concerns and community opposition.
