Changsha zinc smelter

Report summary
The Changsha zinc smelter commenced operations in 1934 with a production level of a few hundred tonnes per annum, produced by horizontal distillation furnaces. In 2002 the smelter's owners were declared bankrupt and production stopped in September. It is assumed that the Changsha smelter is now closed permanently but downstream activities making zinc oxide are continued on the site. The smelter analysis was therefore discontinued from 2003.
