The refinery is located near Toluca, and is approximately 65km west of Mexico City. It is the old Nikko refinery in Japan, which was dismantled and rebuilt in Mexico. It was commissioned in June 1991 with a capacity of 70kt/a cathode. Anodes have been provided mainly from an integral melting plant treating local and imported blister, purchased scrap and the tankhouse anode scrap.
