Report summary
Prices for graphite are forecast to stabilise in December after a year-long decline, but the upside in expected to be limited. The announcement of new licenses for graphite exports from China has led to increased stocking activity, but prices for synthetic graphite raw materials have continued to slide, putting pressure on natural graphite anode material prices and battery-grade flakes. The demand outlook for graphite remains positive, with an anticipated overall demand of 5.7 Mt by 2027. There is expected to be a shortfall in battery-grade flake graphite, necessitating higher prices to encourage new production.
