Hawsons iron ore mine
Report summary
Hawsons is a proposed iron ore mine that will produce 11 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of high-grade DR pellet feed. The mine site is located near Broken Hill, New South Wales, and the pellet feed will be transported via an underground slurry pipeline to the port at Myponie Point in South Australia for export. The project is expected to have low operating expenses (opex) for a pellet feed operation. This is primarily due to the soft nature of the ore, and electricity will be sourced from Australia's National Electricity Network, which offers lower power prices compared to the Pilbara region. The company is actively seeking a finance partner to fund the development of the mine after the planned completion of the Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) in June 2024.
