Hishikari gold mine
Report summary
Hishikari gold mine is located in the northern part of Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. It is the only domestic metal mine in Japan being operated on a commercial scale. The mine is a fully mechanised underground operation which employs a form of undercut-and-fill mining. Ore is drilled and blasted, before it is mucked by LHD's and trucks haul the ore to the surface. Waste is then removed by hand in an ore sorting facility before it is transported to the Kajiki Port in Kinkowan and transported to the Toyo Smelter and Refinery.
