Report summary
The smelter was constructed at Chingola in Zambia to take advantage of the existing processing plant infrastructure. It is also closer to the Konkola mines than the Nkana smelter which was closed following the successful commissioning of this smelter. The Konkola deep mining project which was brought into production in 2010 is expected to provide adequate feed stock to Nchanga for many years.
