Onsan zinc smelter
Report summary
The zinc smelter located in Onsan, near Ulsan in South Korea is operated by Korea Zinc and has a slab zinc capacity of 560kt/a. The Onsan flowsheet was initially based around a typical zinc smelter configuration of roast-leach-electrowin, however it now also incorporates direct atmospheric leaching of concentrates and also a comprehensive by-products recovery system based around TSL fuming furnaces.
