Pohang POSCO (BOF) steel plant
Report summary
POSCO's Pohang works ranks as one of the largest integrated steel plants in the world. Over the years the plant has been gradually expanded to its current 15.5 Mtpa crude steel capacity via the BOF route. The integrated steel plant produces hot and cold rolled coil, steel plate and wire rod. Sinter dominates the blast furnace burden mix accounting for 77% of the iron ore charge. As well as the traditional blast furnace route, Pohang also produces hot metal via the alternative iron-making Finex process.
