Prieska Restart zinc mine
Report summary
The Prieska project is located in the Northern Cape Province, 270 km South-West from the regional capital city of Kimberley. The Prieska mine opened in 1971 and closed in 1991 having processed 46 Mt of material and producing 1.01 Mt of Zn and 0.43 Mt Cu concentrate. Around 1.8 Mt of pyrite concentrate was periodically produced and minor amounts of Pb, Au, Ag and Mo were also recovered. The company updated its Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) in May 2020. This profile and associated analysis is for the restart of the Prieska mine and does not include any historical operations.
