Savage River iron ore mine

Report summary

Savage River is a small capacity mine in the north west of Tasmania, Australia. The pellet-producing operation commenced in 1967 and consists of a mine, concentrator, pipeline and pelletizing plant. Grange Resources acquired complete ownership of Savage River through its 2009 merger with Australian Bulk Minerals. While Grange has reported a large increase in reserves which doubles its mine life, accessing the additional reserves means going underground. Grange are considering this possibility and a pre-feasibility study is currently underway and should be completed in 1H 2020.
