Takehara (closed) copper refinery
Report summary
The refinery is located at Takehara, 50km east of Hiroshima, and has good road, rail and sea links. The originally installed capacity of the refinery was 84kt/a cathode but currently only 30kt/a is available to treat a portion of Mitsui's share of the production from the Tamano smelter. Starting sheets for the refinery are produced from an SxEw circuit treating copper-lead dross from Hachinohe and other lead smelters.
