Report summary

In the early 1990s Korea Zinc started studying the feasibility of building a new zinc smelter in Australia to service the growing Asia - Pacific markets.  Sites at either Gladstone or Townsville had been considered, the final choice being the latter.  The smelter is located on the coast making it a custom smelter, close to Australian sources of feed, but not wholly dependent upon them.  The majority of the product zinc is exported.  In 1998 Korea Zinc indicated an interest in selling a share...
