Operated by Liex, Tres Quebradas (3Q) is an Argentine lithium brine project that began commercial production in 2025. After a 2022 acquisition, Zijin fast-tracked the asset to reach Phase 1 capacity of 20 ktpa battery-grade lithium carbonate. The operation uses high-altitude evaporation ponds integrated with a Fiambalá refinery to exploit a high-grade reserve. Phase 2 is underway to lift output to 50 ktpa, leveraging a 50-year resource life to become a top-tier supplier. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating several granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry-standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now. This qualitative analysis is supplemented by the associated Excel download which enables interrogation of a whole series of cost and production metrics over the life of the asset.
