The expectation of a sea of never-ending US ethane has continued to change the landscape for US and increasingly, global petrochemicals. The latest project vying for US ethane supply is Orbit Gulf Coast NGL Exports LLC, Energy Transfer Partners' and China-based Satellite Petrochemicals' joint venture ethane export terminal at the US Gulf Coast. American Ethane's proposal for an ethane export terminal is also increasingly becoming a reality. The momentum of US ethane based projects is astounding especially considering that the US market has neither fully absorbed nor responded to the first big wave of ethane demand i.e., eight greenfield ethane steam crackers. How will new ethane export projects impact the US ethane cost advantage and the next wave of US steam crackers?
