The Liza discovery was the largest oil discovery in 2015 and significantly de-risked the Cretaceous Tertiary play, proving the existence of a working petroleum system in this portion of the basin. Subsequent exploration has also been extremely successful. We expect activity in this basin to continue as the potential for material discoveries and material value creation is favourably high. The Guyana basin is predominantly an offshore basin, stretching across the waters of Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. This report covers the portion of the basin that lies within the boundaries of the country of Guyana.
