Norway More exploration basin
Report summary
The Møre Basin is a little-explored passive margin basin situated in the Mid Norwegian Shelf. It sits between the heavily explored Vøring Basin to the northeast, and the Northern North Sea Basin to the southwest. The basin extends from shallow waters near the coast to ultra-deepwaters of over 2,000 metres near the basin boundary. The 1997 discovery of the giant Ormen Lange gas/condensate field close to the boundary with the Vøring Basin, confirmed the presence of a Paleocene play in the basin. The primary reservoir formation in the basin is the Tertiary Paleocene Egga Formation, with the Vale and Jorsalfar formations, also of Paleocene age, forming secondary reservoirs.
