Chile power auction resulted in record-low bids
Report summary
On 07 September, the energy regulator CNE released the final results for the 2021 regulated auction. After two bidding rounds, five companies were awarded a total of 2,310 GWh/year at an average price of US$23.78/MWh. Bidding was aggressive, with Canadian Solar setting a new regional record for solar PV at US$13.32/MWh. Offers from the 29 participants totaled 18.5 TWh/year, eight times the auctioned volume.
