Downstream oil in brief: IOCs expand retail networks in emerging markets
Report summary
As demand for road transport fuels has already peaked in many European markets, oil majors are increasingly looking to extract revenue elsewhere. As well as diversifying their non-fuel offerings at forecourts and expanding into alternative fuels, some fuel retailers are increasingly looking to expand their retail fuel business outside of Europe. The European oil majors have been committing to expand their positions in several growth markets, a number of which have seen their downstream markets liberalise in recent years which has opened them up to foreign investment.
