Report summary
With the cost of carbon ever rising and increasingly stringent carbon policy, refineries need to not only address their margin competitiveness, but their carbon competitiveness in order to become a ‘refinery of the future’. To that end, PetroPlan version 7, our industry-leading refinery simulation model, now includes carbon emissions modelling and carbon price optimisation functionality. This latest enhancements open up a new world of analysis to our clients as they look to navigate the energy transition. Some of these use cases include: Measure, report and monitor site emissions. Identify the major sources of emissions for the most cost-effective way to reduce carbon footprint Evaluate multiple decarbonisation options (new technologies, reconfiguration, process optimisation, combustion fuel substitution, renewable power, low-carbon hydrogen) Optimise refinery operations (process units/crude slate) under various carbon, crude and product price scenarios
