Asset Report
Russia CBM unconventional concept play
Report summary
Russia has massive reserves of cheap, conventional gas. However, large reserves of coalbed methane are also present and Gazprom has been working on the Kuzbass development since 2005. In 2011, the Russian authorities have officially classified CBM as a mineral resource. Current gas production is very low at around 1 mmcfd. Considering its strategic priorities, we do not expect that Gazprom will invest a lot in the play in the near future. A closer look at the latest developments.
