Saskatchewan Bakken tight oil unconventional play
Report summary
In 2004, the first horizontal Bakken wells were drilled in southeast Saskatchewan. Operators were testing the formation's potential in the Canadian section following successful development further south in Montana. The initial wells were successful, producing light oil over a large area of the play. After proving the play concept, drilling activity and production quickly ramped-up.
