A DAPL shutdown would hurt today, but even worse next summer
Report summary
Energy Transfer Partners is locked in a tug-of-war with the courts over the future of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The pipeline could face a shutdown while a yearlong reassessment of environmental impacts is conducted. The pipeline ships nearly 40% of the crude produced in the Bakken. If Dakota Access is forced to shut down, how big of a deal is it? At minimum, it would put the play on hold until 2022. At worst? The rig count never recovers from its single digits levels.
