A new era for Algerian gas exports
Report summary
Algeria’s gas market is set to change over the next few years. Hassi R’Mel, the cornerstone of Algerian gas supply for decades, is maturing. And most of the long-term gas supply contracts, which underpinned Algeria’s position as Southern Europe’s largest gas supplier, are due to expire by 2019. Contract renegotiations are underway and major upstream investment is on-going. But as Algeria ushers in a new era of gas exports, does the country have enough gas to meet new exports? And what contracting strategy will Sonatrach adopt to market this gas?
