Block 15-1/5 is located in the shallow waters of the Cuu Long basin and covers an area of nearly 3,000 km2. The block was awarded in 2007 to local operator PetroVietnam Exploration and Production (PVEP) and SK Innovation. Later that year, TotalEnergies acquired a 30% share in the block from PVEP. The partners drilled the first wildcat well, LDN-1X, in 2009 and discovered the Lac Da Nau oil field.
